About SnowTally
SnowTally answers one question for skiers and riders in the US: what is the chance of 3 or 6 inches of new snow at a resort in each of the next 7 days?
Instead of a single snowfall number, SnowTally will show snow probabilities based on NOAA's National Blend of Models, and how accurate the method has been at a nearby weather station.
How the pages are made
On resort pages, the numbers and the resort facts are generated by code from public data: NOAA's National Blend of Models (NBM), snow observations from SNOTEL and GHCN-Daily, lift and run data from OpenSkiData, and elevations from USGS 3DEP. There are no AI-written resort descriptions. Explanatory pages and guides, such as this one, are drafted with AI assistance and reviewed before publishing.
The methodology page explains the calibration and the after-the-fact test behind the accuracy figures.
